Who are we and what do we want?

The Vocal Australia team are just like you - vocal music nuts who want more! Our directors are semi-professional a cappella singers with a wealth of experience performing, recording and touring both here and abroad.

Over the years we have taken note of some of the impressive vocal music scenes overseas in the US, Europe and Asia and we feel it's high time Australia pulled its proverbial finger out and started to get organised too. It's only when we join forces that groups in Australia will get the recognition, exposure and opportunities they deserve.

ACA WHAT?

Never heard of a cappella?

From its literal Italian translation "in chapel style", 'a cappella' refers to vocal music delivered without instrumental backing.

Since its humble roots in choral and classical music, a cappella has opened the door to some exciting new contemporary styles. The use of beat-boxing (vocal percussion), instrumental imitation and sophisticated production techniques have seen a cappella transform into a whole new exciting art form.

So grab some mates, get yourselves organised, and start making some noises!
